Try everything on before your session. Make sure jackets button comfortably, shirts fit well through the shoulders, and you can move naturally. We may have you button your blazer for a few images, so a comfortable fit gives us the most variety.

Dress head to toe. Even if your shoes aren't in every photo, dressing completely helps you feel put together and confident in front of the camera.

Stick with solid colors or subtle patterns. Simple textures and classic pieces keep the focus on you.

Layer your look. Blazers, jackets, sweaters, and overshirts add depth and give us more posing options.

Keep accessories simple. Watches, delicate jewelry, ties, scarves, or pocket squares can add personality without becoming distracting.

Choose colors intentionally. Navy, charcoal, olive, camel, cream, and rich jewel tones photograph beautifully. Darker colors often feel more formal and authoritative, while lighter tones create a more approachable look.

Come ready to enjoy yourself. The best headshots happen when you're relaxed. We'll guide you through posing and expressions every step of the way.

Coordinating for a team session? Same notes apply! It tends to add a cohesive element if you pick a general color palette for the group, and then have everyone coordinate within that - not match exactly. Mixing tones, textures, and layers adds depth and personality while keeping the look cohesive and polished.

Avoid clothing that's too tight or too loose. If you're constantly adjusting your outfit, it will show in your photos.

Avoid overly casual clothing unless it fits the style of your company or personal brand.

Avoid busy patterns or multiple competing prints. If you choose a pattern, let it be the focal point.

Avoid sleeveless tops unless they fit your personal brand and you're comfortable with the look. Sleeves tend to photograph more timelessly.

Avoid large logos or graphics unless they're an intentional part of your profession or company branding.

Avoid pure white or fluorescent colors. Bright whites can lose detail, and neon colors often reflect onto skin tones.

Don't stress about posing. That's our job! We'll coach you throughout the session so you look natural, approachable, and confident.

Consider the silhouette. Think about how your clothing will look within the frame. Flowing dresses, oversized sweaters, and long jackets can look beautiful in creative environmental or full-length portraits, while more structured, tailored pieces often photograph best for close-up headshots.

Before you leave home consider steaming your clothes, polishing shoes, and lint rolling dark clothing. Pack any essentials you may need (touch-up makeup, hairbrush, lip balm, water, hair spray, etc.).
